Frequency Asked Question

Yes, we offer trial classes for students under 7 years of age. The trial class allows us to assess whether the student is able to understand and follow instructions, ensuring that the class environment is suitable for their learning style and needs.

For Bharatanatyam, we offer both in-person and online training options, so students can choose the mode that best suits their preferences.

Fees are due at the beginning of each quarter, no later than the 10th of the month for that quarter. A late fee may be applied for payments received after the due date.

If a class is canceled by us for any reason, we will offer a make-up class (subject to availability) or provide a refund or adjustment to the fees accordingly.
Please note that fees are non-refundable for student absences.

If a student misses a class, make-up classes are available as a courtesy, subject to availability. Please contact the center to inquire about alternative classes to attend as a make-up.
However, fees will not be adjusted or credited for absences. We encourage students to maintain regular attendance to ensure steady progress in their training.

We do not typically provide video recordings of classes for practice. Instead, we believe that developing a strong memory is an essential part of mastering Bharatanatyam. Each student will find their own unique way of remembering movements, sequences, and rhythms, and we encourage this individual approach to learning.

Students are encouraged to ask questions during class, and note-taking is suggested once they reach a certain stage in their learning. This stage varies for each student. For beginners, the focus is on learning the movements and instructions. Sometimes, the teacher may share videos or resources to help with practice. Ultimately, we support each student in finding the best way for them to retain and improve their learning as they progress

  • Class attire: Students should wear a Salwar Kameez (Kurta with slits on the sides) with a dupatta tied around the waist.

Students who are ready to take their practice to the next level may have the opportunity to participate in competitions or solo performances. These events serve as a valuable platform for showcasing their growth and dedication to the art. If necessary, special preparation classes will be offered for a fee to help students refine their technique and performance skills for these events.

Yes, students may have the opportunity to perform at community events or other performances, depending on the discretion of the teacher. Participation in such events is encouraged to help students gain experience and build confidence.

Please note that parents are responsible for covering any associated expenses, including costumes, make-up, and any entry or participation fees required for the event. The teacher will provide guidance on the preparation and logistics for each performance.

The time it takes for a student to be ready to perform varies, as each student has a unique learning curve. Bharatanatyam is a complex art form, and it takes time and consistent practice to reach a level where the student is ready to perform. The teacher will assess the student’s progress and provide opportunities to perform when appropriate.

We encourage parents to stay connected with local community events and performance opportunities. When a chance arises, please discuss it with the teacher at least 4 weeks in advance so we can plan and prepare accordingly.

We encourage open communication and believe in keeping parents informed about their child's development. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to reach out directly to the teacher. The teacher will be happy to provide updates on their progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.

Bharatanatyam is a deeply artistic and technical form that takes years of dedicated practice to reach a stage where students are ready to perform. While we do not have a fixed annual event, students will have opportunities to showcase their progress during grade exams and community events as they continue their training

Yes, photos and videos of students may be shared on our social media platforms (such as Facebook and Instagram) or our website to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements. If you prefer that your child’s photo or video not be shared, please inform us, and we will respect your wishes.
